An Operating System is the low-level software which manages a computer system. It takes care of the way the hardware behaves, the communication with peripheral devices such as a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between various applications, along with the prioritization of apps if several run simultaneously. Every program that's installed on a PC works by sending requests to the OS for various services via an application program interface (API). The interaction with the OS can be done using a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the Internet hosting field, the OS is what runs a server along with all of the software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but also every other application for instance a VOIP or a game server. If there are virtual machines created, they use a guest OS which runs on the server host OS.
Multiple OS in VPS Servers
We provide three different Linux distributions for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the most stable and reliable OSs on the market and we provide all three instead of only 1 as we realize that you may want to set up some software with specific requirements regarding the Operating System it shall run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a vast support community behind it and there are various software programs you could install on the hosting server. Your OS choice will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS in case you want to use one and that's why we offer several Control Panels as well. If you ever decide that you want some other OS, our tech support team can quickly wipe the current one and install the one that you need. We also offer an optional service to maintain the OS on your VPS updated weekly.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers
The dedicated servers that we offer come with three different Operating Systems as we want to offer you more versatile plans which will permit you to install and run any web software whatever its system requirements. The choices are CentOS, Debian and Ubuntu and these 3 OSs are some of the most reliable and secure ones, not mentioning that they do not have any kind of license costs. All three have numerous developers that have created countless software packages that you can install and use on your web server. We also offer three internet hosting Control Panels and which one you can use is determined by the Operating System that you choose when you register. In case you need another OS afterwards, it won't be a problem as we can always reinstall your machine. With our Managed Services package we can also keep your OS secure by upgrading it on a weekly basis with all patches which are released for it.
