InnoDB
Find out more on InnoDB and see why it’s already been chosen as the default MySQL database engine.
InnoDB is a popular storage engine for the MySQL DBMS. It’s an alternative to the default engine – MyISAM, and it has got lots of pluses that make it the preferred engine for plenty of open-source script-based software apps, among them Magento and Joomla™, which have shifted over to InnoDB for good. For instance, adding large volumes of data will be faster with InnoDB, due to the fact that it locks only one database row to complete a certain task, not the entire database table, which makes the engine perfect for scalable apps. InnoDB also supports foreign keys and database transactions – these refer to the manner in which the information is handled. To put it simply, appending new or editing existent data will either be entirely completed, or will be aborted and the operation will be rolled back in case a given problem appears in the meantime, hence the content that remains in the database won’t be lost.

InnoDB in Shared Hosting
While InnoDB is either not available or a paid upgrade with many web hosting providers, it is an essential part of the standard set of services that we’re offering with our shared hosting plans. If you wish to use a PHP script-driven software application that needs InnoDB specifically, in order to be installed and to function properly, you will not come across any obstacles because the InnoDB database storage engine is available on our custom-developed cloud web hosting platform. Regardless of whether you set up a brand new MySQL database and install an application manually or take advantage of our 1-click app installer software instrument, InnoDB will be selected automatically by our platform as the default engine if the app needs it rather than MyISAM. Besides the incredible database failure recovery that InnoDB offers, we also keep regular database backups, so we can easily restore any database in your shared website hosting account.
- InnoDB in Semi-dedicated Servers
InnoDB comes with each of our semi-dedicated servers by default, so once you get a new account, you can move on and install any PHP-based app that requires this particular MySQL database storage engine. A couple of engines are installed on our cloud web hosting platform, so when you set up a brand-new MySQL database and start installing an application manually, or decide to use the Hepsia hosting Control Panel-integrated application installer, the engine for the database will be set in accordance with the requirements of the respective app. This will allow you to activate and run InnoDB-specific apps without coming across any obstacle and without editing any settings in your semi-dedicated account. To avoid any risk, we’ll always keep a 1-week-old backup of all your databases, so if you remove or edit any content accidentally, we can swiftly restore it.- InnoDB in VPS Servers
If you choose a VPS server with our Hepsia Control Panel, the InnoDB database engine will be an essential part of the software pack that will be installed on your Virtual Private Server before we give it to you. You will not need to set up anything manually and you’ll be able to install and use any script-based web app that needs InnoDB when your VPS is ready, which takes no more than 1 hour after the order submission itself. Several engines are offered, so whenever you create a MySQL database via the Hepsia Control Panel, a specific engine will be activated when the app activation commences and our system will automatically recognize the engine that is required by the app in question. In case you need to use MyISAM, for example, you won’t need to do anything different than installing the preferred application, whether manually or using our app installer tool.- InnoDB in Dedicated Servers
All Linux dedicated web hosting plans that are ordered with our custom Hepsia hosting Control Panel come with a software bundle that’s pre-installed and among everything else, you will get the InnoDB database engine, so you won’t need to install it manually if you would like to activate open-source scripts that need it. All it takes to run such a script is to create a new database and to start the setup process – once the installation wizard acquires access to the database in question and starts dumping content in it, InnoDB will be set as the default MySQL engine for this database as long as it is the one needed by the script. You will also be able to install scripts that need the other popular MySQL engine – MyISAM, so you won’t have to modify any settings on the server. This will permit you to activate different scripts on a single server and to use the latter to its maximum capabilities. - InnoDB in Semi-dedicated Servers
