.SE Domains

The .SE country-code domain extension was set up in 1986 and given to Sweden. During the first years after its launch, the registration procedure was pretty restrictive, so a very small number of domains were reserved. Individuals were allowed to register solely one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was required, i.e. only Swedish persons, businesses and organizations could secure a dot SE domain. In 2003, however, the registration process was liberalized notably and, as a result, the number of .SE domains has been mounting each year.

At this time, anyone can reserve a .SE domain, which allows you to reach the Swedish web community even if you do not have a local presence.
